Caretaker Mariners boss eyes full-time job
Caretaker manager Stuart Watkiss would like to be in the frame for the permanent appointment.
Watkiss took charge of the team after the sacking of stalwart boss Alan Buckley and told BBC Radio Humberside: "If it goes my way I'll be very honoured and very proud to be Grimsby Town manager. If the chairman decides I'm to be number two, there'll be no sulking from me. I won't spit my dummy out."
Watkiss is endeavouring to bring in fresh blood and added, "Ideally the way I want to play the game is to play at high tempo.
"In order to do that you need people that can get about."
