Manchester United boss slams Pogatetz
Sir Alex Ferguson is furious with Middlesbrough Football Club's Emmanuel Pogatetz.
The Austrian international committed a horrendous foul on Rodriguez Possebon which left the Manchester United youngster needing oxygen, leaving Ferguson fuming.
"The injury looked really bad and the lad has gone to hospital," said the Reds boss. "The thing that gets me about challenges like that is that the opponent always claims he has done nothing wrong.
"He (Pogatetz) should have just walked off the field. Then you get their bench screaming that it wasn't a sending-off and there is nothing wrong with our player. Gareth Southgate was very good about it.
"He apologised and understood the gravity. It was an absolutely terrible tackle."
United won the Carling Cup third round clash 3-1 at Old Trafford, with goals coming from Cristiano Ronaldo, Ryan Giggs and Nani in a game which needed nine added minutes due to Possebon's injury.
