Sunderland Football Club will have little luck in luring Leighton Baines in the New Year.

Roy Keane is believed to want the Everton fullback at the Stadium of Light, but although he is out of favour at the moment, the Toffees are adamant the 23-year-old has a future at Goodison Park.

"He has never moaned or complained," said assistant manager Steve Round.

"He has got on with the job and trained superbly and if he pushes himself as I know he can, he could develop into one of the best left-backs in the Premier League."
