Harry Redknapp has explained why he brought Pascal Chimbonda back to Tottenham Hotspur Football Club in January.

The Spurs manager signed the player Juande Ramos sold to Sunderland six months previously, and he has now explained the reasons for the move.

"I just felt that Chimbonda gives us cover all over. I was looking for somebody who could play everywhere, that's going to be important,” said Redknapp.

"He has energy, and is an attacking full-back. He was outstanding at centre-back in his last game for Sunderland so can play across the back four.

"I tried to get him when he was at Wigan Athletic, I think Chelsea were in for him too when he was in the Premier League team of the year."
