Fulham manager feels for crocked Bullard
07:50 PM 20 February, 2009
Fulham Football Club manager Roy Hodgson feels for Jimmy Bullard.

Hodgson reluctantly sold the midfielder in January to Hull City, who paid a club record fee of £5million to take him to the KC Stadium.

However, Bullard picked up a knee injury on his debut for the Tigers which has ruled him out of the remainder of the season.

It is particularly unfortunate as the player had previously spent 18 months sidelined with a knee injury in 2006, and Hodgson feels for him.

"It is sad news, I must say,” he told Sky Sports. "He wasn't really complaining so much about his knee during January, it was his groin.

"When he started training again, he then mentioned there was a slight tweak in the knee and he wasn't so comfortable with it.

"Basically he went to Hull and played, and I can only presume it was something that happened in the game that has either exacerbated that situation that he felt, or has provoked a totally new injury.

"It is really, really sad for him. It is sad for him in the sense that he worked so hard to get back to full fitness after being out for more than a year.

"He had a good year with us really. As I’ve said before, we weren't happy to see him go, but we had to respect his decision.

"It is very sad that now he is going to face another further long spell on the touchline. I can only wish him well."
