Jonny Evans is desperate to play in his first major final for Manchester United.

The Northern Ireland international has been superb for the Reds when called upon his season, but he is currently hampered by an ankle injury.

However, the thought of missing the Carling Cup final against Tottenham Hotspur on Sunday is not one he is willing to entertain.

"It's not nice to even think about it," Evans said. "The manager has tried to tell me if I miss it, it's no big thing, but I would be quite gutted.

“Hopefully the manager will allow me to have a few more injections."
