Hodgson confirms Murphy Fulham stay
02:41 PM 01 March, 2009
Danny Murphy is staying at Fulham Football Club.

The future of the midfielder has been of some debate recently, with fans fearing he will quit the club when his contract expires at the end of the season.

However, Roy Hodgson has now revealed that the club had the option to extend the deal for a further year, meaning Murphy will be at Craven Cottage until 2010 at least.

"At the start of last season we offered Danny a contract that would automatically lead to a renewal if he played a certain amount of games,” he said.

"That has kicked in and he is here until the end of next season, the summer of 2010. He has played week after week. He's gone two-thirds of the season without missing a game, and he might go the last third as well."
