Cardiff cruise to victory over Tykes
04:00 PM 04 March, 2009
Cardiff moved to fourth in the Championship on Tuesday night with a 3-1 home win over Barnsley.

Joe Ledley netted the opening goal on four minutes and Michael Chopra then made it 2-0 just before half-time.

Barnsley substitute Jon Macken reduced the deficit in the 62nd minute but Andranik Teymourian was dismissed for slapping Chopra moments after and Peter
Whittingham sealed the win from 20 yards late on.

Cardiff City boss Dave Jones told the BBC, "I thought the first half we played some super football and could have made life easier for ourselves.

"Second half, first 15 minutes we started sloppy and I think the first four or five passes we gave away, which gave them a little bit of momentum.

"Bad goal to give away - we tried to pinch it on the edge of the box and there was no need to do that, but I think we deserved the victory because of the chances we had and their keeper kept them in it for a long time."

Paul Parry, Michael Chopra and Gavin Rae suffered knocks but Jones was hopeful of a quick recovery for the trio, "We've picked up some more knocks with Paul Parry, Chops and Gav with his hip again. I saw him limping off at the end," said Jones.

"So we'll just have to wait and see how they are, but we've got a few more days. We'll get them up and running again on Thursday and Friday."
