Titus Bramble is being tipped to make Fabio Capello’s England squad.

The 27-year-old defender became a figure of fun during his five year stay at Newcastle United, during which he made some horrendous blunders.

To be fair to Bramble, he has certainly improved since his free transfer move to Wigan Athletic, and team-mate Chris Kirkland is tipping him for England.

"If he keeps playing the way he is, he has to be in with a shout," Kirkland told the Wigan Observer. "He is the outstanding player on the pitch most weeks.

"Titus has been our Player of the Year. He has been superb and he deserves all the plaudits because he has taken some unfair criticism throughout his career.

“Now he is throwing it back, which is great. I have played behind him now for a couple of seasons and when I know he is playing it makes me feel a lot easier."
