Brian Howard has told the Tykes he does not want to discuss a new Oakwell contract.

The midfield star is poised to complete a loan move to Sheffield United on Monday, with the Blades paying £600,000 to make the deal permanent in January.

After meeting the club hierarchy last week and confirming his intentions, Barnsley have released a statement saying: 'In the interests of all parties, Brian Howard (will) be allowed to leave the club at the earliest opportunity, subject to Barnsley FC receiving compensation.'
