Joe Royle makes sensational Oldham return
The Latics have turned to their former boss, in the wake of John Sheridan's Boundary Park exit.
Now 59-years-old, Royle built his managerial reputation by taking Oldham into the top-flight in the early 1990's and keeping them there for three seasons, as well as reaching a League Cup final and two FA Cup semi-finals.
He then had spells at Everton, Manchester City and Ipswich Town.
The deal with Royle runs until the end of the season, as Oldham look to his experience to guide them into the play-offs.
