Sami Hyypia accepts that it remains difficult for Liverpool to win the league.

A stunning 4-1 win at Manchester United has closed the gap on the Old Trafford club to just four points, although the reigning champions still have a game in hand.

"We knew the United game was really important to win because if we'd lost it then the title would have been gone," said Hyypia.

"It will still be really difficult for us even though we are now closer to the top. But at least we have closed the gap a little and we will see what happens from here.

"The one thing I can definitely say is we will keep fighting until the end. If we didn't believe we may as well stop the season now.

"We have to do our best and win our games and maybe United will drop points and we can take advantage.”
