West Ham to pay millions to current & former Sheff Utd players?
10:30 AM 30 March, 2009
According to the Sheffield Star, eighteen current and former Sheffield United players will seek compensation from West Ham over the Carlos Tevez affair.

West Ham's argument is the estimated £25m payment to the Blades was a final settlement figure.

Nonetheless, a fresh tribunal may be called in to arbitrate and apparently the players will be due around £3.5m.

Ex-Sheffield United striker Geoff Horsfield (now with Lincoln) explained: "There are no personal grudges against West Ham from any of the Sheffield United players involved, myself included.

"But the fact is we lost considerable sums of money as a result of being relegated to the Championship because our wages dropped as a consequence."

"It is nothing personal or about being bitter, but about justice."

Added to that are potential claims coming from Fulham (who lost £700,000 from falling below West Ham in the league table), their former boss Lawrie Sanchez and Blades ex-manager Neil Warnock (now at Crystal Palace).

apparently the grounds man want compensation as well,he,s reported as saying that championship grass cutters get less pay and have to make cut backs and use inferior grass seed , the tea ladies and pie makers also want in on the act as the tea bags wernt up to scratch and the pies were shite all because of cut backs ,the guy that paints the white lines was made redundant so he,s on the list and plod were thinking of getting in on the act as there over time was cut due to the blunts only needing a few special cuntsables and there was nt any croud trouble apart from when big teams like there better half wednsday turned up

No chance!!!! As it absolutely smacks of greedy vultures trying to see what's in it for them and it's also the media making a story out of something that has become quite boring now. Because West Ham have made a settlement that Sheff Utd have accepted which is legally binding, therefor West Ham have relinquished all responsibility of matters concerning Sheff Utd, so Warnock and Co (if entitled to anything) will end up having to claim off Sheff Utd in the same way that Leeds, WBA and Sunderland are having to, end of.

So West Ham have been hammered twice now for Carlos Tevez, So what about Matthew Spring and Steve Kabba then or don't that count, how does it go. Sign for the blunts play for Charlton and then loaned to Luton Hmmm. I hope that the back door payment you got off West Ham goes out on fines all of it.The blunts only got themselves relegated not one man West Ham or thats what the blunts reckon. Not one team complained all season, we even played the blunts twice and not one word of complaint from any blunt fan, player, management or Directorship. The Governing body gave West Ham clearance to play Tevez against Man Utd so who is to blame!!!!!

Just the one point Neil Warnock in his book - in black and white - accepted responsibility for that mickey mouse Steel City club getting relegated. He said and i quote 'we were not good enough we blew a 10 point lead over West Ham, when we beat them 3 - 0 with 7 games left we thought it was in the bag' Didnt that muppet of an actor Sean Bean also slag him off and make his wife cry as well. Also one final point if all these players were premier league standard why are hardly any of them plying their trade in the PL? and why isnt that cock warnock in charge of a premiership side if his a premier league caliber - Newcastle, Chelsea, Blackburn, West Ham have all lost managers this season its a joke.

I am not a West Ham supporter but surely this has gone to far. I personally don't like the idea that clubs can sue other clubs for a breach of the rules. Does this mean that Bansley will be able to sue SU if they go down due to Greg Halford being worth 3 points to them. This whole sorry affair needs a line draw under it before it ruins football.

"Funny that people seem to take the settlement with Sheffield Utd to be an acceptance of blame. It's purely a legal settlement, at no point have West Ham accepted blame over the Carlos Tevez affair." Of course it was an acceptance of blame. You were fined £5,5m by the PL! What was that for if you haven't done anything wrong? Once the last inquiry found in SUFC's favour, the only real question left was "how much" SUFC didn't want the money, they wanted their PL status back. Once that option was no longer open to them, the only alternative was financial. The fact WH wanted it settled out of court has nothing to do with blame, as WH are already guilty, it has more to do with the chance it may have cost WH a lot more in court. A question, why didn't WH wait just a few more days for the hearing to decide the amount? That in itself answers the question. They were crapping themselves incase the hearing set a much higher figure! For all of WH's legal team and the most respected sports lawyer in the business Watkins, there only ever was going to be one winner. As for WH, well unfortunately they are far from out of the woods. If the PL and FA concur with the last hearings findings, you are in far greater trouble than you just have been! And the moral of the story is........... D**t C***t! please fill in the missing letters!!!

west ham settled to finish the situation, the PL and FA will rubber stamp it, there will be no further action and sheffield united will get their money, and it won’t be anything like being reported, pure propaganda on the part of kevin mccabe, agreed with west ham probably to satisfy all partys. and no one likes a parasite.

The FA/Premier League should step up to the plate now and fix the f'ing mess they created in the first place by making it clear that anyone bringing further claims against West Ham will be deemed as "bringing the game into disrepute" - which it clearly is- and punish accordingly. Pardon my french.

These claims make Sheff Utd, it's owners and players look like the parasites they are. This 'crusade for justice' was only ever about money, not justice. How an earth can Jagielka claim when he has doubled his wages and now an England international? He's never have gotten in the England squad and £40kpw at Sheff Utd. And Horsefield, how many Premier League games did he play for Sheff Utd? How much money would he have gotten had Sheff Utd stayed up? He'd probably be out the door. Pathetic.

All the players trying to make a claim against West Ham were employed by Sheff Utd. This team has already been given compensation by WH so it would seem to me that they should be asking for compensation from SU, not WH.
