Danny Guthrie hopes to feature against Chelsea at the weekend.

Guthrie has been out of Newcastle United’s fight against relegation since mid-January due to a hamstring injury, but he appeared for the reserves against Manchester United on Monday.

"It's been a long and tough two months, but it was good to be back and get 90 minutes under my belt,” the former Liverpool youngster told the Newcastle Chronicle.

"Hopefully, I will now be involved at the weekend against Chelsea. It's been a tough couple of months for me and for the team, but I think the more bodies we've got, the better for the club."
