Switzerland international midfielder Almen Abdi is being lined up for a summer move to Aston Villa.

The 22-year-old scored a couple of penalties for FC Zurich against Villa in a pre-season friendly last summer and generally impressed with his play.

Abdi averages a goal every four games roughly and is under contract until 2010.

The addition of the playmaker will make it an easier decision to let Gareth Barry go, should Liverpool attempt to buy him again for big money.
