Macheda fails to convince his Manchester United pals!
10:04 AM 13 April, 2009
Ben Foster has revealed the Manchester United Football Club dressing room has doubts over Federico Macheda’s goal at the Stadium of Light.

The Italian youngster was the hero for the Reds again at Sunderland, as he appeared to steer a Michael Carrick shot past Craig Gordon to ensure Sir Alex Ferguson’s side remain at the top of the table.

"He said he guided it in," Foster laughed.

"He said it was a deft touch but I don't think many of the lads believed him!”

What do YOU think? Did Macheda intentionally steer the ball past Gordon, or was it a fluke?

I's good that there is that doubt about his intention. This will gigve him an incentive to go and prove it the next time he is on the pitch.

what matters is that the ball ended up at the back of the net.the element of luck is needed and kiko had that luck.

I think Ben Foster should be the last person to cast doubt on Macheda's goal. He should instead worry about the goal that he let in to his own net. No deft touch there!

Totally agree. Rather than worry about whether the young man guided it in (which I think he did), Foster should work on his ability to deal with crosses into the box. God help us if this is the heir to van der Sar. One thing a goalkeeper in the EPL cannot afford to be, is weak on crosses and corners.
