Could Bolton's Basham be another Bostock for Spurs?
Bolton's Chris Basham, who scored his first Premier League goal against Chelsea at Stamford Bridge may be on the way to Spurs this summer.
The 20-year-old utility player will be out of contract soon, but because of his age a compensation fee will be payable.
If that fee cannot be agreed, it will be decided by tribunal.
Nonetheless, Bolton boss Gary Megson is unperturbed by Basham's contract situation.
Megson told Sky Sports News: "It's nothing. Basham won't be concentrating on his contract. He won't be because he's not that type of lad.
"His contract will get sorted out. He just need to concentrate on his football and on his development and everything else will take care of itself."
Last year, something similar happened with former Crystal Palace youngster John Bostock, when Spurs announced the signing on their official club website.
Palace later issued a statement denying that agreement had been reached and in the end the amount was decided by tribunal, with Eagles chairman Simon Jordan threatening to quit the game (so disgusted was he with the outcome).
The tribunal decided that Tottenham would pay £700k for Bostock, with add-on payments of up to £1.25m dependent on appearances and a further £200k should he make his full international debut. A sell-on clause was also inserted, entitling Crystal Palace to 15% of any profit Tottenham makes from any future sale of Bostock.
