Manchester City aim to beat Chelsea for £25million playmaker

Manchester City Football Club have set their sights on Diego.

The Werder Bremen playmaker has been linked with an exit from the Bundesliga club this summer, with Chelsea and Juventus both keeping an eye on the £25million-rated ace.

However, reports at the weekend suggest City are about to enter the race for the player, in the event of missing out on AC Milan superstar Kaka for a second successive transfer window.

But the chances of Diego heading to Eastlands would appear to be slim, after his agent recently revealed he would only leave Werder for a team competing in the UEFA Champions League.

man city can't overhaul a squad and expect to win right now with their current manager. they need someone to handle egos and mark is the type of manager to do very well with a lower table or midtable team. imagine the reunion of the santos attack of robinho and diego. as far as chelsea rumors, where would he go? whose midfield spot would he take?

If Man City are going to see champions league football next season they will have to sign at least 6 - 7 players. If I was Hughes I would go for Bruno Alves (Porto), Hangeland(fulham), Fernando (Porto), Moutinho & Veloso(sporting), Diego (Werder Bremen) and Etoo(Barcelona)
